Have You Been To Token?

When somewhere a bit different pops up, I’m always keen to check it out and that is what brought me to Token in Smithfield

Armed with Himself and two friends, we headed over one chilly evening to check the place out. Upon entry we were asked with trepidation by an otherwise bubbly Host “Do you have a reservation?”, the relief that washed over her when we said yes was palpable, she then explained that she’d already had to turn away five groups – let that be a lesson to you, if you want to go to Token – book!!

Token is a lot of things, it’s an arcade, a hireable event space, a pinball parlour and a restaurant. The latter of which was our first port of call!

How clever are these menu’s? Menu covers really, but you get the gist! They were all different game magazine covers. With your meal deal, you got foodage and tokens – and we didn’t require more than what we got, but you can buy more if you wish!

I have to say, the food was fantastic

It was messy, it was tasty and it hit the spot!

There were even really good vegan options for our friends

The desserts were in keeping with the theme – messy but delicious – we also got churros which were great, but we ate them too fast for me to remember to take a photo!

After our meal we “surrendered” our table, which was filled again quick as a flash!! And we got started on the arcade games, much to Himself’s delight!

Downstairs is the pinball parlour which I thoroughly enjoyed

and we all played many a game – it’s quite addictive – but with the constant cacophony of noise, it’s not surprising that the turn over of people is large – people take a lot of breaks, whether to eat, get a drink at the bar, or just chat.

Token is an absolute blast, possibly even more so if you go with a group, so round up your friends, book a table for food and then play all the old favourites to your hearts content! I loved revisiting Space Invaders, it’s been so long! Find out more here
