Summers come and go in what feels like the blink of an eye, I got quite a shock yesterday when someone in the office said “only 4 months ’til Christmas!”. Firstly I was like “eh…pipe down please, I’m only just back from my holiday!” but also, I was like – have I done everything I wanted this Summer?
With a few weeks left (officially, although I’m not sure the weather knows this!), here are some things I’ve done and loved, perhaps you can end your Summer on a high by squeezing one or two from this list in before Summer ends, I know I will be!!
Eat A Proper Ice Cream
Himself and I live a 30 minute walk from THE best ice cream in Ireland – arguably the planet! It’s called Teddy’s and it’s glorious, a Summer in Dublin isn’t complete without a 99 and a stroll along the pier.
Travel
There’s something quintessentially ‘Summer’ about travelling. This year we went to London (see here and here) and Portugal (see here, here and here) if you’re clever and move quickly, I’ve no doubt you’ll be able to nab a cheeky weekend away somewhere and don’t forget – some of the best vacations are staycations, so why not explore this beautiful island of ours instead of booking a flight?!
Enjoy Cocktails With Friends
I don’t go out that often, to be honest I’m too busy working, whether as an actress, a photographer, a corporate voice coach – or on this joy of a blog of mine! They all take up time, but I decided early on this Summer that I would be carving out time for my buddies and I’m so glad that I did!
Get My Nails Done
A bit of pampering (not solely for Summer by any means) but with so many things on and outings cropping up, it’s nice to book in and get your paws sorted so you’re good to go at a moments notice! For this indulgence I went to Mink, my absolute favourite for nail care in Dublin. They have two locations, so hopefully one will suit you, I always go to the one in Ballsbridge, it’s the bigger of the two I believe, so a little easier to get appointments!
Listen To Live Music In The Sunshine
Himself was the spearhead for this one and we managed to catch a pretty great band whilst on Holidays, read more about that here
Feed The Ducks
Well, it was one Duck, but I still fed him and he was delighted with life, as was I!
Read A Great Book
No it doesn’t have to be a “heavy” read. For example, I read “Oh My God What A Complete Aisling” and I have already put it out there in this tweet that I have big plans where it is concerned. If you haven’t read it you must, it made me laugh and it made me cry – it’s a truly wonderful piece of writing!
Explore A Market
I ticked this one off the list in Portugal earlier this month and you can read about it here – but remember – a jaunt around a local market can be every bit as wonderful, just get out there and peruse the stalls to your hearts content!
Treat Yo Self!
Why not?! Let’s face it, we’re staring down the barrel of several very cold months, so why not splurge a bit on something wonderful that you can rock throughout Autumn and into Winter – some decent boots or a warm coat maybe? I went for a belt, yes this belt, my lovely Husband has gifted this long sought after item to me as my Third Wedding Anniversary present – or at least he will be – it’s on it’s way but hasn’t arrived just yet! (I won’t lie, there may have been more than a few hints…!)
BBQ
No Summer is complete without a bbq in my book, I enjoyed a great one with family a few weeks ago, but I really want to have one more, this time in our new apartment before we have to kiss Summer goodbye – until next year!
However you close out your Summer, be sure you enjoy it! Oh and one last thing – that item you bought for “wearing in good weather” – the one you’ve still not worn? Throw it on quick, go buy bread and milk or something because if you don’t wear it soon, it’s not getting worn for about 10 months – because #Ireland!
I’ll definitely say yes to ice cream and travel! I love both! ♥
Anyway, I’m following you on Bloglovin, Facebook and on Pinterest!
Hear from you soon!

for the first time, I wrote a bucket list for the summer and managed to tick everything off. I rented a boat, went fruit picking and had a picnic.
