After a lovely time in Portugal last week, I’ve been thinking about those of you who still have your holiday yet to come (you lucky ducks!), so today I’m sharing with you my travel essentials, which as the title may imply, isn’t just for Summer holidays but valid for any travelling you may have coming up!
I’ve flown alot in my life so I’m actually a pretty great packer, but my goodness it is an arduous task, so getting me to do it is painful (just ask Himself, he has to hear about it when I don’t want to do it!!). The other pitfall for me is the fact that once I’m “in the zone” I pack very quickly – which is why when Mom used to ring me just a few hours before my flight and say “you all set?” what she was really asking was “have you actually packed yet?” – more often than not the answer was no, but I was only going from London to Dublin for the weekend, it was FINNNNE!
I would like to say in my adultness I’ve gotten better, well I have-ish, wellll… ok, really I just know what my must-haves are, so everything else is a bonus if I remember to pack it!! So, without further adieu, the below are my must haves – hope it’s helpful!
Electrical
Headphones – I usually bring two types, these and these because you’re not allowed to wear over ear headphones during take-off or landing
Kindle – because books are life
Phone & Charger
Camera & Charger
Hairdryer & Curly Wand
Adapter(s)
Skincare & Eyes
Suncream – this one, cause there be no messing when it comes to my skin come Spring, Summer, Autumn OR Winter (yes, Winter!)
Contact Lenses
Sungalsses & Glasses
Eye cream
Micellar Water
Moisturiser (body & face)
Lip balm
Deodrant
Perfume
Make Up (Foundation, Concealer, Mascara, Blush, Lippy, Highlight/Contour)
FirstAid Kit
Plasters
Hayfever Tablets
Painkiller
Muscle soothing gel (especially on a city break when we’ll be walking around lots to explore!)
Clothes
Bikini – because even in the dead of Winter I will sniff out a hotel with a pool thank you kindly!
Daywear – skirt, nice tops, jeans/shorts, day dress, shoes
Eveningwear – fancy dress, playsuit, trousers & top combo, heels
Nice tips my dear….

Eye cream is such an underrated thing to bring with you when you’re flying somewhere, the aircon in planes completely dries them out haha. Loved this post 🙂

Thank you so much Izzy!! I totally agree, the AC is so drying – so I’ve got to have some eye cream ready to combat the issue!

The things I always forget when I go away – toothpaste, hairbrush and aftersun!

I never bring toothpaste with me because I opt to buy the little travel sized one in the airport, I use it for the duration of the trip and then don’t return with it. I have forgotten my hairbrush once before, but thankfully I was travelling with my family so my Sister sorted me out – but I hear you, sometimes it’s the most used/everyday things that we forget!!

I think it’s because you don’t pack it with everything else because you use them everyday… and you make a note to pack them on the day.. then you loose the note.. and then you don’t pack them! haha

Haha! Yes Katie that’s so true!!

I have to always remember to bring pain killers in my suitcase. I always tend to need them, and never have any. I’m going away in two weeks, so I’ve written down a big list of things that I need to take with me so you’ve reminded me a few extra bits. x

I always forget makeup remover wipes. As I read your post, I kept thinking “what country is she from?”. I could tell by the way things are said differently from where I live in the US. Plasters instead of Bandaids, for example.
Love for the States.
