Yesterday, Sarah and I met up for our annual pre Christmas catch up and pressie swap and we decided to head into town to revisit an old favourite, the newly refurbished and much loved, Bewley’s café!
The Café has just reopened after a multi-million-euro upscale but has stuck firmly to it’s historic roots, including the stunning Harry Clarke windows
We’d seen on the news that the queues were out the door and we were prepared for a wait, but thankfully, we avoided the lunchtime rush so whilst we did still stand in line, we were actually seated quite quickly
Straight away I gave Sarah her Christmas pressie (I have no patience for these things!)
I got her this crazy gorgeous mirror from DOIY, a company that was started 9 years ago and all their pieces are made in Barcelona (where their headquarters are). I would HIGHLY recommend their site for beautiful gifts with personality, totally obsessed with this, this and these too, might have to see how the bank balance is after Christmas and treat myself!
Soon after ordering our lunch arrived in the form of two perfectly NOM soups with door stop slices of homemade brown bread
^ mine was a gorgeous butternut squash delight with pumpkin seeds and it was just completely moreish!
and Sarah went with their Winter Vegetable soup with truffle oil – I had a wee taste and it was delicious, smooth, creamy with just a hint of that yummy oil
We had a good nose around the bakery, but ultimately decided to give up our table and head on to the next spot
But don’t they just look scrummy? I mean, we’ll definitely be back!
We scooted over to The Westbury Hotel and into their Sidecar Bar for drinks
and some nibbles
The place was heaving and we managed to nab the very last table – lucky us!
The place was beautifully decorated throughout and the atmosphere was just Christmas on a stick!
We had a fantastic time catching up and discussing Sarah’s upcoming birthday (yeay!)
We wrapped ourselves back up and headed outside for a stroll down Grafton Street
Enjoying the classic chandelier’s
Sarah gave me a stunning homemade gift for my birthday and a few gorgeous things for Christmas, but I’m going to keep them to myself until next month – I’ll link back here when I’ve written a pressie post 🙂
Do you have any pre-Christmas traditions with your bestie?
