Fake Christmas

Many years ago, at the beginning of our long-distance relationship, Himself and I began a tradition of celebrating a “just us” Christmas before we had to separate again over actual Christmas. This was usually bookmarked for the weekend before actual Christmas and fondly dubbed “Fake Christmas”. We’ve (thankfully!) not been long-distance for many years now, but our tradition is still going strong!

This Friday therefore was Fake Christmas Eve, so this got opened (which was so exciting!), but I’m racing ahead! Earlier that day, we got all spruced up and went to Himself’s office Christmas party, in the Merrion no less!

We had such a great time and the food was INCREDIBLE!! Just look at this amazing dessert

^ this should be how all desserts are “I can’t just pick one”, “NO PROB – have a bit of them all!” <- sign me up for that always please!

After a few drinks and many a chat, we got a car back to the house, opened our Christmas Eve box, threw on our new pj’s, pulled a couple of crackers

and then Himself passed me the movie clue, as it was his turn this year to come up with it and my turn to guess – this was my one last year

popped some popcorn and added minstrels, kicked back and watched our first Christmas movie from our top 10 Christmas Movies list

The next day we swapped gifts, watched 7 more Christmas movies, had gorgeous food and generally just enjoyed a mini “You and Me” Christmas. It was the best, check out previous years here and here.

What about you – would you do a Fake Christmas?
