It’s the eleventh hour and you’ve just realised you’ve forgotten someone off of your Christmas list (which you’ve been bragging has been finished for a week!), we’ve all been there. Don’t fret, just whack this recipe together and you’ll be golden!
INGREDIENTS
500g Cadbury’s Milk Chocolate
100g Sultanas
Good glug of Rum
1 handful of Chopped Nuts (whole nut, hazelnut and almonds are best)
Optional Extra: Smashed Candy Canes
EQUIPMENT
Sharp Knife
Spatula
Rectangular tray
Grease-proof paper
Optional Extra: Rolling Pin
DIRECTIONS
Put the sultanas into a bowl and pour your rum on top. I left mine overnight until all the rum had been completely soaked up by the sultanas, but if you are pressed for time, just leave them soak there until you’re ready to use them!
Line your tray with grease-proof paper (or if you’ve run out like me, butter a sheet of tin foil!) then, in a bain-marie, melt all your chocolate until it’s liquidy goodness and pour onto your tray. Pour slowly into the centre and allow the chocolate to spread outwards.
Once the bowl is empty grab your spatula and spread the chocolate out evenly into a rectangular shape, then sprinkle your nuts and rum soaked sultanas into the chocolate embedding them in the chocolate. Place the tray into the fridge for 5 mins
Take out the tray and sprinkle the nuts onto the chocolate (you could also top with candy cane pieces if desired – although if you know the person you’re gifting this to has teeth issues, I wouldn’t!)
Put the tray back into the fridge and leave for as long as you can.
Once ready, remove from the fridge and snap the chocolate into bark pieces.
You may recognise this as it’s an update to this tried and tested gift which has gone down so well in previous years. So give this more adult, boozy fruit & nut upgrade a go and don’t forget to report back on how your boozy gift turns out – I always love hearing from you guys!! This is such a great idea! Thanks for sharing:)
