Chocolate Protein Balls

I’m on quite the health and fitness regime these days, it’s not rocket science, I’m simply training hard and eating well. But I’ve found it increasingly difficult to eat enough protein to reach my daily intake goal. I’m not vegan, so a lot of my protein comes from meat and dairy, but sometimes, I mean, I really just cannot be dealing with it and that’s where these beauties come into play!

Chocolate Protein Balls

I created this recipe last week to help me out and I couldn’t be without them now! They’re the perfect on-the-move snack, they don’t require me to shell out £1.99 per bite like some I’ve seen in the shops recently, they’re brilliant for keeping hunger at bay until lunch and they’re dead quick and easy to make which is always a win!

INGREDIENTS {Makes 15 Bites}

50g Gluten Free Oats (I use this)

25g Protein Powder (I use this)

80g Almond Butter (I use this)

30g Chopped Dark Choc (I use this)

10g Cashew Nuts

5g Cocoa Powder (I use this one)

1tsp Vanilla Extract (I use this)

DIRECTIONS

In a blender, blitz the oats and protein powder together until a fine flour has been created (I used a vanilla protein powder but if you’d like to make them super chocolatey, opt for a chocolate flavoured one instead)

Chocolate Protein Balls

In a bowl add the almond butter, chopped dark choc, chopped cashew nuts, cocoa powder and vanilla extract

Add your “flour” on top and with your hands, mix everything together. At this point I add about a tablespoon of water to the mix to get everything a little stickier so that moulding and rolling is easier.

Once you’ve rolled 15 bites, put them in the fridge for awhile to solidify, then pop them into an airtight container for the week.

Each morning I pack two into a small air tight container and bring them with me in my handbag for snacking on during the day (leaving me with one left over for those REALLY hungry days!!)

If you use the exact same ingredients I did and create 15 out of the mix, each one will be worth:

Calories: 69 | Carbs: 3.4 | Fat: 4.4 | Protein: 3.4

Enjoy!
