OmNOMnomnomNOMnomnom…oh sorry – were you expecting coherent English? Oh fine then, I’ll try
Next stop on the Bridal Party train was to Turners Restaurant, we were seated smack in the front of the place on a massive round table, which was perfect because it made for very easy chats! (which can always be difficult when you’re in a large group)
Well I’ll tell you, we ate the lot! First out to us was the Amuse Bouche, a bacon number that went down a treat with the whole table – even though our waiter told us it was Parma Ham….it was definitely bacon!
For starters we enjoyed, well, basically everything! But I had the Goats Cheese Beignet, plum tomato compote, rocket salad with port dressing, I say again, OMnomnomNOMnomnomnom!
Super soft and full of flavour!
For my main course, I enjoyed the pork with veg, mash and carrot puree. After the artistry of my starter, the main course left a little to be desired visually, but what it lacked in finesse, it made up for in taste – that gravy certainly packed a punch!
The Grilled Hake, pea puree & parma ham risotto, parmesan & chive sauce was a firm favourite with most of the table and not a scrap was left!
Sis ordered the Gnocchi – just, YUM!
To round out the meal – dessert – between us all we managed to order almost everything on offer!
Selection of Ice Cream and Sorbets
Vanilla Panna Cotta, vodka marinated strawberry, cracked pepper & lime sauce
Chocolate cheesecake – nuff said!
A scrumptious apple crumble!
and the Selection of Irish Cheese’s, quince and crackers – a MASSIVE serving! One could’ve done at least three of us!
Then out came the quiz…. I was not prepared for this and when I found out that Himself had know about it and not warned me, well, I made a mental note to glare at him at a later date – all depending on how it went (naturally!).
Thankfully, apart from a little pocket of questions in the middle of the quiz that did not go so well (because he LIED!) I got 3/4s of the quiz correct (yes I have since counted them…) and because of this, Sis informed me there was a prize waiting for me upstairs – exciting!
After dinner, we headed into the bar to get another cocktail and then went back upstairs to Moms suite where we had another good natter and a swap of some stories that will REMAIN between the four walls of that room thank you much!
Sis gave me my quiz winning prize, a gorgeous print which already has pride of place in our living room in London
And then there were four
While everyone else toddled off to bed, myself, Katie, Sarah and Zara, got into jammies and all piled into one room….snacked on doughnuts, rehashing the day until we finally agreed, with breakfast set for 10:30am at least a few hours snooze would probably be in our best interest!
Breakfast was lovely and everyone was in sprightly form, we had another opportunity for a group shot, this time we got an ACTUAL group shot as we rugby tackled an unsuspecting Hotel Manager and convinced him that he’d just LOVE to take our photo – bless him!
Outfit
After breakfast I got back into some comfy travel clothes and eventually the party broke up, with Mom and Sis heading home (to lie down after all their fabulous organising I would imagine!). Himself’s family headed off home too, some down the country, some up to Dublin and poor Zara had to schlep back to Galway! (this is what happens when you’re an uber smart PHD student!!)
With just the road-trip-three left – we turned to each other – someone whispered “Kildare Village?”
Those magic words hung tantalisingly in the air for mere seconds until they were snatched up and we were all skipping towards the car, delighted to be able to stretch out the party just that little bit longer!
Kildare Village, is a Designer outlet shopping area – which we love (incase you missed that….!)
Katie, Sarah and I wandered around, paying particular attention to Kooples (Katie’s favourite), Calvin Klein Underoos, Le Creuset, Lulu Guiness, L.K Bennett and lots more
As if they knew we were coming, Kildare Village had a theme running through the place that weekend – there were macarons everywhere!
and later on we found the giant ones!
We all bought ourselves a little treat while we were there, Katie and I got cute shorts from Calvin Klein Underwear and Sarah got a very funky top from Ted Baker (none of which are online anymore I’m afraid!)
It was a really lovely way to end the weekend, we dropped Katie home, Sarah – driver extraordinare – drove me home, joined in with a quick, around the kitchen chat with Mom and Himself and then headed home herself, another tired lady (lots of the arts and crafts were made by Sarah – so a well deserved rest was on the cards I would imagine!)
To all the ladies in my life – English and Irish – those at the Hens and those who couldn’t make it – you have made me feel very, very special indeed!
So, here’s one big massive thank you to all of you for celebrating this exciting time with me – you’re all gorgeous!
