This year the VS Fashion Show was held in London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre, this is the first time the show has packed up it’s hair curlers, make up and all important wings and left it’s New York home.
^ Taylor Swift graced the stage for the second year on the trot which I’m delighted about, the more this woman pops up, the more I like her! I really think they should just make her an honourary Angel already, apart from lacking a few inches in height, she fits perfectly with the brands ethos. Ariana Grande took to the stage as well as my personal faves – the lads themselves – Ed Sheeran and Hozier (fellow Irish man – not biased….at all….!)
^ Ariana Grande
^ Ed Sheeran
As always, the ladies with the wings stole the show – as they should!
^ Candice Swanepoel
^ Jasmine Tookes
^ Isabeli Fontana
^ Jourdan Dunn
^ Eniko Mihalik
Each year an extravagant and costly costume is worn by one Angel, this year however the honour was given to two Angels, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio wore the “Dream Angels Fantasy Bras” which were 2million dollars each (yes please I’ll have 7 – one for each colour in a rainbow!)
If you were a “Joe Soap” looking for a ticket to the event held on Tuesday night you would’ve had to shell out £9,995 for one seat – one people – ONE!
Should you be desperado to get a bit of Angel magic for yourself, look no further than Manolo Blahnik inspired shoe designer, Nicholas Kirkwood. Live on his website right now, you can get your hands on one of two styles of boot which he created for the Angels to strut down the catwalk in
Oh the price? Yeah…well, no lies, that’ll set you back a bit. The above left “Gabo Angel Bootie” can be all yours for £2,900 (Incl. VAT – IT WOULD WANT TO BE!) Or you could go all out and get the “Gabo Angel Knee High Boot” for £9,900 (Inc. VAT……!)
^ Can we take a moment to bask in how much we love these two and their blatant bestie love for each other!?!
The gig will air in America first on CBS Television Network at 10pm on Tuesday 9th December and then (FINALLY!) we get a gander on 4Music at 9pm on Wednesday 10th December
On a more serious note, I know there’s been a lot of negativity circling the show for years, but I for one take it for exactly what it is – a show. For those who say it objectives women and puts others down for not conforming to a standard, I would argue the opposite, I think it empowers women to feel confident and strong within themselves and to support each other rather than tearing each other down and I would point out that every single woman walking that catwalk are obviously gym goers – they aren’t starving themselves, they’re just working their tushies off – literally! It would not surprise me one bit if the stats showed that the majority of people watching the show were women, not men.
Personally, I can’t wait to see the amazing sets, the gorgeous costumes and the fabulous performances by all involved
